Bursts: Transmission 1

Like many of the other doctors here, I’ve been a bit busy lately. Unfortunately, the things I’ve been working on are not quite ready to be unveiled. So I will give you a little taste, some more snippets.

1. Vapid

vapid_slow

The winner from last week’s poll. Still working on this one, though it has taken a new turn. Does it work better? Worse? Let me know in the comments.

2. Concepts

concepts

This is a bit of a weird tune, but kind of funny to me for some reason. Experimental, for sure.

3. Accomplish

accomplish

Written for a video game project that was never meant to be. This will turn into something eventually.

4. Machine Gallops

This one is a recent favorite of mine. It is only one synth rack and drums, nothing else. This one is also being re-worked, as I’m not sure what to do with the ending yet. Featured in a mix set I did about a year ago.

5. BCRemix

bcremix1

A remix of a song I wrote for a compilation a few years ago. I wanted something a bit more ambient, and this was it. I used Ableton Live for this one.

Let me know what you think of these tracks in the comments. Thanks for checking our site!

while i think Machine drops needs a strong drum element to it and the song doesnt seem to really get started until almost 2 minutes in… that drop near the end is a great touch, it was auditorially (is that a word? is it aurally?) engaging.

I like Accomplish a lot, my favorite of this post. I can totally see this in a stage review screen or main menu or something. The bass line i think might be a little complex for it’s purposes, but i like how well it compliments that… er.. bassoon like organ in near the end.

I like the ending pieces of Vapid – where the droning pieces lay out especially – but my favorite of this post is Machine Gallops. It has a really nice build, and I like how the opening figure goes from being a melodic element to more of a background thing. Very cool.

I’d like to throw down the gauntlet. 4/4 is a cage we are thrown into and left to lie whimper meekly. Let’s each do a tune in 5/4 and 7/4 – could be interesting. You game? Or are you chicken?
